Teaching English to Chinese students has exploded over the past few years. There are several opportunities to get online and teach.
You don’t have to have a teacher certification in English to apply for these opportunities. You only need to have a Bachelor’s degree, a computer with a camera, and a stable internet connection.
VIPKid is a company that hires people with a bachelor’s degree to teach English to Chinese students from ages 4-12-year-olds online. The classes are 30-minute sessions. The lesson plan is generated for you but review the lessons ahead of time.
To apply to VIPKID, you must meet three minimum requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in any field
- Eligible to work in the US or Canada
- Have a minimum of one year of teaching experience (including homeschooling, tutoring, coaching, mentoring, or other life experiences)
In addition to the requirements above, your English level must be fluent and evaluated during the interview. If accepted, there is a minimum of six months of commitment required.
